“It was an instant marriage”: Omnicomm launches joint activities in South Africa

Omnicomm, one of the leading developers and manufacturers of fuel monitoring solutions and other equipment for fleet management needs, has presented its products at the key mining industry show on African continent – Electra Mining Africa 2014. The main goal of participation in the show was to discuss the new projects the company has launched in the region with Omnicomm’s new partner – the local company National Electronic Distributors (NED).

Electra Mining Africa, the second largest mining show in the world with global recognition for its broad reach across mining, construction, industrial and power generation industry sectors, once again proved its status as a world-class event by attracting high numbers of key players to showcase the latest trends in products, services, technologies and trends. The event held once in 2 years is supported by the Chamber of Mines of South Africa. Omnicomm equipment, fuel level sensors as well as complete fleet management solutions attracted attention among representatives of mining and machinery, energy generation and transmission companies; electrical and construction.

There are a lot of mines in Africa. After the end of genocide exploration of mines was ranked as one of the main priorities for industry development in South Africa. Mining industry is one of the key spheres where transport telematics equipment is applied. With huge size of special machinery, fuel tanks of large volume, the economy from precise fuel monitoring equipment application can reach millions of dollars a year. That is why Omnicomm sees African mining market as a big potential, the demand ever increasing.

Earlier in August Omnicomm Technical Support Team conducted several test installations of equipment for one large company which is engaged in coal mining. Omnicomm complete FMS, i.e. Omnicomm LLS fuel level sensor + Profi terminal + Software were fitted in test-mode inside various types of machinery: a tip-truck, a caterpillar, an excavator and bulldozer.

“NED”, the company specializing in telematics solutions, has been searching for reliable partner-manufacture of high-quality FM equipment to run business together for over 4 years. Now the two companies have become official partners. “After many years of local development and trying to find a product which would perfectly suit our needs we eventually came across Omnicomm, which has the technology, the support, the structure. It was an instant marriage. We are very excited to find such partner”, - Mr. Paul Nel, NED Representative comments. Omnicomm and NED have launched several big projects now.

“With other projects to follow, at the moment we are conducting a fairly large project in rural area, installing Omnicomm equipment on mining vehicles. Another large project is in Victoria Area. We are installing equipment in a storage solution with distribution system. All these activities keep us very excited and busy”, - he concluded.
